Dr. Carlen Ledain was born in Queens, New York, and is of Haitian descent. She moved to South Florida as a teenager. She started her adulthood as an interior decorator and knew something was truly missing. She decided to enroll in a local university, and a few months later, a life-changing event happened. She, unfortunately, lost her young cat to a terrible accident. At that moment, she knew that the fulfillment she was missing was caring for animals’ welfare. She completed her Bachelor of Science in biology from Florida International University in Miami, FL, and graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts and Nevis in 2017. Dr. Ledain spent two and a half years living the beautiful island life and studying hard. She completed her clinical year at Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, Alabama.
After graduating, Dr. Ledain moved again for a short-term internship in Akron, Ohio, and then worked at a small animal general practice nearby for almost two years before moving to the beautiful Charlotte area. She has joined Whole Pet Veterinary Hospital in 2019 and is starting her journey studying integrative medicine under our mentorship. She is Fear Free Certified and is very eager to be part of our hospital, and is excited to care for our adored pets.
During her free time, Dr. Ledain loves reading, drawing, painting, and salsa dancing. She can also be found hiking with her pup, Dex, or having a glass of wine and cuddled up with her cat, Jolie while watching scary movies. She truly enjoys traveling and has been to amazing countries such as Egypt and Peru, to name a couple.
